Over 22 large-scale investment projects, valued at 46bn RUB, are implemented in the field of agriculture of the Stavropol territory, informed the regional minagri.

“17 investment projects focus on import substitution: 6 greenhouse complexes, three commercial dairy farms, two processing facilities, 2 orchard development projects and the remaining three are related to irrigation”, said the minister Vladimir Sitnikov.

According to him, the facilities started operating include Kazminsky dairy factory, Alliance Poultry Complex and Georgievsky Cannery Plant. “Overall cost of all three projects amounted to 1,9bn RUB, they provided 300 job opportunities”, said the minister.

He also emphasised the construction of a large project named Stavropolsky Fermer. The project is designed to produce lamb meat (11k tonnes annually). Its cost is 3,5bn RUB.

Mr. Sitnikov informed that the region needs to support grain processing. AGRICO, BIOAMINO, and VEL Company announced the intention to develop related projects. But due to present-day economic landscape, and long-term payback period of such projects initiators scrapped their plans. “Since the last year investors have started to show interest in such projects”, comments the minister.

According to the information of the ministry, overall investment in agriculture in 2017 exceeded 14bn RUB.
