According to the regional authorities, Agricultural Complex Volzhskiy will start construction of the second phase of the 5th generation greenhouse complex on the square of 5.2 ha in Sredneakhtubinsk district of Volgograd region in 2019. Implementation of advanced technologies allows the complex to reduce tomatoes ripening period and have all year around production cycle.
In 2018 the company put into operation 5.2 ha of first turn of advanced greenhouses and already in January 30 started harvesting. Thus after the second phase of greenhouses implementation the square of 5th generation greenhouses in Agricultural Complex Volzhskiy will be doubled up to 10.4 ha.
Today total greenhouse area comprises 18.3 ha. This allows to refer the enterprise to the largest protected ground producers in the South. Construction of the Complex is one of the major investment projects of the Southern Federal District. 8.8 bln RUB were invested in the enterprise development from 2012 to 2017. In the region the company has a major rival that is Ovoschevod (more than 30 ha of modern greenhouses) which is growing greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers and sell them under the trade mark Botanika.
Andrey Bocharov, Head of Volgograd region, underlines that only 20 out of 180 ha of greenhouses under construction in Russia belong to the 5th generation, half of them is in Volga region. “We see a bright example of a new modern approach to the agriculture development. This project was started from nothing and almost nobody believed in its success. Today within the import substitution activities we acquire a high-quality product which is demanded in the region. We have completed the first fifth generation greenhouses in the Southern region and now the second phase is under construction. The authorities provided complex state support”, says Mr. Bocharov.
