Russian Minister of Agriculture Mr Dmitry Patrushev arrived at the Stavropol region. Among the goals of his trip there is the estimation of state programme of agriculture development implementation. Mr Patrushev is accompanied by Mr Nikolay Velikdan, First Deputy Chairman of the Stavropol Government. Mr Velikdan remarked that together with the high wheat yield recently Stavropol region became one of the country leaders in the greenhouse vegetables production. The region takes 16% of the tomato market, provides one fourth of Russian lamb export, one fifth of poultry meat export. For the last five years 44 new farms and 14 processing facilities, including 9 new plants have been constructed.
On 24 May, Mr Patrushev visited Stavropol State Agrarian University. The Minister of Agriculture, Mr Vladimir Sitnikov took part in the meeting. Federal Minister inspected training research laboratories of the university, research and training building of Agronomical and Plant Protection faculties. The visitors attended a meeting with the teaching stuff as well. Mr Patrushev awarded the best employees with the gold and silver medals for the contribution in the development of Russian agriculture and certificates for honorary employees. Mr Patrushev participated in the gala opening of the 3D prototyping centre in the Stavropol Agricultural Institute.
The North-Caucasian meeting devoted to the production and export is planned next. The President of the country set a goal to double agricultural export up to 1 bn dollars.
